Brenda Jacobson
Climber
Brenda Jacobson is an everyday Mom with a heart for women. She especially enjoys helping those who are struggling to overcome the obstacles they face. It all began years ago as she mentored young moms at her church and that love only grew as she traveled to countries on different continents where she heard the heartbreaking stories of women who have no voice and so very little hope.
While she never imagined herself summiting a mountain, much less one as massive as Kilimanjaro, Brenda’s heart for the women of Africa gave her the courage to say “yes.” Through her “yes ” Brenda seeks to stand with women around the world by giving voice to their stories while providing help and healing through the prayers and support of their sisters in the United States.
Stories have always been a part of Brenda’s life: she’s been involved in publishing for over 30 years, and also loves telling stories through photography. While training during Oregon’s rainy winter months is not something Brenda particularly enjoys, she loves the outdoors and is looking forward to bringing all these interests together through One Million Thumbprints.
Brenda is married to Don, her husband of 38 years. Home is Fairview, Oregon where they live on a small lake with Coda, their Labrador. Three of their four children are married, and their first grandchild arrives a few months after the climb.
