Often, the trek up Mt. Kilimanjaro is referred to simply as a long walk up a mountain. The 1MT Climb for Peace Team is inviting our friends and supporters to JOIN THE TEAM by walking this long, exhausting-yet-exhilarating road alongside us.

"None of us can do everything, but we can all do something — big or small, according to what we've been given."

Lynne Hybels - 1MT Climb for Peace Climb

WILL YOU JOURNEY WITH US as we climb in solidarity with our sisters across the globe who are continually affected by the violence of war?

THE PLAN:

FOLLOW us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. We will be scheduling posts each day of the climb, sharing our route and interesting facts about the climb.

COMMIT to “walk with us” March 4-8, 2016.  We will take strength from knowing that friends of 1MT are walking with us each step of the way. Use the hashtag #1MTclimb4peace to let us know you have joined the team. Join the special VIRTUAL TEAM Facebook Event to let us know!

WALK, bike, run, hike, ski, or row. Each day our team will be climbing a certain number of miles, and you are committing to cover the same number in whatever way you want! You can do this at home, at the gym, or in the great outdoors. Track and share your miles and motivations with us each day.

GATHER friends, neighbors, or coworkers. The more the merrier! Let’s amplify Esperance’s voice as we tell the world to #endviolenceagainstwomen.

DONATE per mile, per foot, or per step. The purpose of this climb is to raise awareness AND funds for important programs on the ground in the DR Congo, South Sudan, and Syria/Iraq—three of the hardest places to live as a woman.

Donate to 1MT here: http://www.onemillionthumbprints.org/giveagift/

Or donate to a specific climber (all monies go to World Relief programs on the ground):

So grab some friends, and do this together. Women for women. Women with women.

As 1MT founder, Belinda, has said,

Violence against her is violence against all of us.

Lets link arms togetherfrom the East to the West.

From the USA to Tanzania.

Kilimanjaro inspires transformation. When you climb Kilimanjaro and stand on the roof of Africa, you see the world a different way. What seemed impossible in your life might just be doable. The mountain top is a place for vision, inspiration, and a new beginning.
